Competition Coordinator 

We are always searching for enthusiastic and excited dance educators ready to make a difference!  We are searching for positive mentors for the next generation! As Competition Coordinator, you will play an imperative leadership role in accomplishing NHAD's mission of offering top notch, professional instruction in the art of dance, helping lead our students to become great people through training in the art of dance and enriching our community. You will spend one season training under our Assistant Director and Business Manager, and take over the role of full Competition Coordinator the following season.

 

This isn't your typical teacher/choreographer job. We only hire outstanding people who are looking for a long term position and who want to play a role in impacting our students' lives. We are looking for members to lead our team of exceptional competition coaches who work closely together to create a positive and dynamic dance family!  We seek individuals who will be invested in the growth of our staff, students, community and team. If you're looking for a quick, low responsibility job that gets you in and out one or two nights a week, this is not the job for you.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will work as a trainee for one full season to acclimate to the studio culture and familiarize themselves with expectations and tasks with the goal of taking over as full Competition Coordinator for the 2023-2024 season.

  • Teaching dance lessons on a weekly basis with a fixed schedule, both technique and competition rehearsals for groups and private lessons.

  • Choreographing and preparing students for performances

  • Administrative tasks including  but not limited to: competition entries, collecting and uploading competition music, distributing information to competition team families.

  • Working closely with the director, business manager and competition coaches.

  • Taking a leardership/management role at competitions.

  • Providing student feedback.

  • Communicating with parents and team members on a regular basis.

  • Attending and working at studio events wherever needed.

  • Attending 2-3 yearly staff meetings.

  • Meeting deadlines with regard to music selection, costume selections.

  • Completing daily, weekly and monthly rhythms as presented.

 

Position Requirements

  • Choreographic abilities

  • Competition Experience preferred.

  • Ability to teach syllabus material

  • Experience with RAD, Al Gilbert, Acrobatic Arts is a plus if applicable to your genres.

  • Experience with Google Suite a plus: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, etc.

  • Experience with Dropbox a plus.

  • Candidate must have excellent organization, effective verbal and written communication, creative and flexible teaching style, and an enthusiastic and warm approach with students.
